God's Spirit

Scripture:

Galatians 5: 16-23
16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh.They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever[c] you want.18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Comments:
When we walk in the Spirit of God, the Spirit gives us the strength and desire to go good things instead of sin.  Our flesh, the human part of us, wants to sin, but when we let God's Spirit live within us, we will do good things.

How do we Walk in the Spirit?
For a new Christian, this may seem like a hard thing to do, but actually it's not that hard if you are dedicated to doing it.  We walk in the Spirit when we spend much time in prayer.  We should always be in 'an attitude of prayer'.  Mentally acknowledge God's presence with us at all times.  When you are driving or walking, be mentally talking to Him.  Thank Him for all of the good things in your life.  Express to Him your need for patience, wisdom, and love for others.  Ask Him to go with you at work or school.  Ask Him for help on your test, or project.  Ask Him for strength to make good choices instead of sinful, or selfish ones.  Mentally quote scriptures and think about how they apply to your life. When you stay in tune with God, you will find that His Spirit is in communication with your spirit, and you will do good things.
Sin = Selfish Acts
Fruit of the Spirit = Unselfish Acts

What are some ways, or things you do, to help you stay in tune with God's Spirit?  Please see a comment.
